NFL Draft Prospect Fletcher Cox

Fletcher Cox Scouting Report

School: Mississippi State
Year: Junior
Position: Defensive Tackle
Height: 6'4"
Weight: 297

Projection: Possible mid first round pick thanks to his great combination of size, strength and athletic ability. Faced a lot of double teams in college so didn't put up big numbers but has the ability to change the game from the DT position.

Has very good speed for a DT and ran the 40 year dash in 4.79 seconds at the combine. Showed good but not great strength, doing 30 reps of 225 pounds. Plays with very good quickness and shows the ability to penetrate up the field, even when facing the double team. Solid against the run, getting good leverage and reading the play well. Stays in good position and seems to have an advanced understanding of the game.

NFL Draft Prospect Brandon Jenkins

Brandon Jenkins Scouting Report

School: Florida State
Year: Junior
Position: Defensive End
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 265

Projection: Jenkins is an elite edge rusher who is coming on strong and moving up draft boards. He could be a mid first rounder in April of 2013.

Explosive off the edge with great speed up the field and good moves to get to the QB. Has ideal size and quickness for the position and should be a nightmare for opposing OT's to handle.

A very experienced player who has gotten a lot of playing time in his three years at Florida State. Really knows the game and reads the play well.  Not the best run defender but has all the tools to be an every down end. His numbers were down in his junior year after a great sophomore campaign but he still has all the talent to be a great NFL DE.

NFL Draft Prospect Jerel Worthy

Jerel Worthy Scouting Report

School: Michigan State
Year: Junior
Position: Defensive Tackle
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 310

Projection: A penetrating defensive tackle who can really get up the field well and make plays in the backfield. Could be the top DT off the board in April.

Very strong and quick at the point of attack.  Gets low and uses leverage well.  Has an excellent first step and explosion off the snap, with enough power to bull rush offensive lineman into the backfield.  Has developed into a good run defender and has rounded out his game well.

Has very good size for the position and can be an every down DT. Should be able to pressure the QB well at the next level and be a disruptive force on D.  Does a good job of reading the play and getting his hands up to knock down passes if he's not able to get to the QB.

NFL Draft Prospect LaMichael James

LaMichael James Scouting Report

School: Oregon
Year: Junior
Position: Running Back
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 185

Projection: James enters the NFL draft after his junior year and projects as a late second or third round pick.

A speedy home-run hitter at running back who is probably too light to be an every down back but could be a big play guy and third down specialist. Has very quick feet and top end speed.  Cuts back well and is explosive through the hole. Is very hard to catch in the open field due to his pure speed and elusiveness. Has been hugely productive at the college level and knows how to run the ball.

Not a powerful back and might not be the most durable player.  Elbow injury suffered this season will be something to keep an eye on. Sometimes tries to do too much, bouncing the run outside instead of taking what's there.

A very good pass catcher with good hands and solid route running. Not a good blocker and would be a liability if asked to stay in the backfield and block.

NFL Draft Prospect Tim Jernigan

Tim Jernigan Scouting Report

School: Florida State
Year: Freshman
Position: Defensive Tackle
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 295

Projection: A penetrating defensive lineman who should work his way into a first round pick in 2014.

Has very good quickness off the snap and plays with good leverage. Gets into the backfield well and disrupts a lot of plays. Very strong, has a good motor and plays through the whistle. Uses his hands and arms well with a good swim move.  Is very physical at the line.

Not the tallest or biggest DT but is a better athlete than most other lineman and uses his quickness to his advantage.
